
If the plans and projects in the pipelines are anything to do then Karnataka is betting big on infrastructure development as the state has 224 projects of Rs. 1.38 lakh crore under various stages of planning while others are being completed on war footing under the public-private-partnership (PPP) model, said Principal Secretary, V Madhu.
He added that the state government is trying to double the rail infrastructure in the state with a whopping investment of over Rs. 18,000 crore and in the energy infrastructure segment the state has decided to invest staggering sum of Rs. 80,000 crore by 2017. Apart from this, the government is all set to improve the existing roads and highways infrastructure by 2020.
In the aviation sector, the government is also flying high and has embarked on increasing the number of airports to 12 from the current four and an equal number of airstrips involving an investment of Rs. 1,500 crore and that they are expected to be commissioned by 2010-11, he claimed.
